Best Dividends 2009

Question: Calculating total amount of dividends?

Preferred Stock- 1,000 shares of cumulative 8% with a $100 par value
Common Stock- 10,000 shares with a $2 par value

No dividends were paid in 2006,2007,2008.
In 2009 the Board of Directors paid $50,000 in dividends to the two classes of stock.

How to i determine the total amount of dividends paid for each year?

Answer: hmm this is a tough one, i’m a finance student and still don’t know this lol, is this like 3rd or 4th year stuff cuz our dividend questions aren’t this complicated?
